Eyelash extensions are all the rage right now. They’ve been around for years but have recently become more popular than ever. Are you late on this beautiful, convenient trend? Have no fear, we’re here to get you up to speed!
First off, we should tell you what eyelash extensions are and what the application process is like. Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent individual strands of long, dark false lashes. They do not come in strips like the falsies sold in drug stores, so eyelash extensions can be very customizable.
Your lash technician will hand glue each piece onto your natural lashes, and they should last six to eight weeks with proper care. They eventually fall out like your natural lashes do on their own. Don’t wear makeup to your eyelash extension appointment, and wait at least 24 hours after your appointment before you shower or swim. If you want your lashes to last, try to avoid mascara and cream-based eyeliner if you can. Oils and waxes in some makeup formulas can break down the lash glue.
When you wash your eye makeup off, use cleansers that are easy on your extensions, like Almay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover Pads or Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. You’ll also want to brush your eyelash extensions daily, otherwise, they can become tangled.
So, why should you get eyelash extensions?
- You will save an insane amount of time each morning before your commute to work or school. Think of how long it takes you to curl your lashes and apply mascara in the morning, especially when you’re tired and barely feel like keeping your eyes open. How do you expect to top off the perfect look with a coat of mascara when you’re rushing out the door? With eyelash extensions, your lash look becomes an afterthought. You’ll wake up halfway ready for the day. Get dressed, then put on your favorite foundation, blush and highlight– and you’re ready for the day!
- They just look flawless. You’ll constantly look like you have perfect eyelashes, no matter what time it is or where you’re at. Eyes tend to look bigger and brighter with false lashes, and lash extensions are like falsies that are custom to your eye shape and style. You’ll be looking and feeling like a celebrity!
- Your wallet will thank you. Even though you have to pay to get your lash extensions and keep up with refills, most women end up wearing less makeup because they look in the mirror and feel great wearing only the extensions. It’s definitely a smart investment!
If even a simple style of eyelash extensions seem too dramatic for you or you’re just not into the idea of having them glued on, there are other options to make your eyes pop! Some women prefer a lift or tint. Are you confused? We’ve got you.
A lash lift is basically a perm for your eyelashes. Your stylist will apply a chemical to your lashes that will make them curl beautifully upward, opening your eyes and holding their shape for six to eight weeks. A lash tint is when your stylist uses a special dye that’s safe for your lashes, in order to make them dark, to give the illusion that you’re wearing a dark brown or black mascara even when you’re not. Getting a lash lift and tint at the same time is a popular trend combo and will do wonders for your eyes!
Like extensions, the lash lift and tint look is a great alternative to wearing mascara or falsies. If you use mascara when you have your lashes lifted and tinted, you’ll want it to be a natural formula. You should also brush your lashes daily.
If you’re still not sure if you’re ready to join this big lash bandwagon, ask your stylist any questions you have during your next appointment at Jordan Alexander Boutique Salon.
